Privacy Policy — SF Photo Guide
Effective date: August 18, 2026
Last updated: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the SF Photo Guide mobile app and website (the "App") handle information. The App is provided by The Strand Co., LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions, contact us at: derick@strategyandbrand.com
The short version: we don't have accounts, we don't track you, we don't run ads, and we don't collect or sell your personal information. The App is a photography location guide. Below are the details.
Information we do not collect
• We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking software in the App.
• We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.
Location
• The iOS app does not request or access your device location.
• On our website only, an optional "Find nearby" feature can use your browser's location to sort viewpoints by distance. If you use it, your browser asks your permission first, the calculation happens on your device, and your location is never sent to us or stored.
Information processed to make the App work
The App shows live conditions and public webcam images. To do that, your device connects directly to the following third-party services. We do not operate a server that collects, logs, or stores your activity.
• Weather (Open-Meteo): To display sunrise, golden-hour, and weather details, the App sends the fixed coordinates of the viewpoint you are looking at (not your personal location) to Open-Meteo. See the Open-Meteo privacy terms: https://open-meteo.com/en/terms
• Live webcams (ALERTCalifornia / UC San Diego, and the U.S. National Park Service): When you open a spot that has a "Live look," the App loads a current image directly from that public camera provider.
• Maps and directions: The iOS map uses Apple Maps. When you tap "Open in Maps," the App hands the destination to your device's Maps app. On the website, map tiles are provided by CARTO and OpenStreetMap.
As with any request over the internet, these providers necessarily receive your device's IP address and standard request information in order to send back the image or data you asked for. We do not receive or retain that information, and we do not combine it with anything else. Each provider's own privacy practices govern how they handle those requests.
Children's privacy
